Harriet Rock is talented, rising musician. Her vocal range varies from soft and ethereal, to deep and bellowing. Having asked us to shoot a gig of hers, at the Finsbury near Finsbury Park, we talked beforehand about what style to go for. Being someone who prefers the nostalgic feel of VHS, film, and the distinct home video era, we made sure to lean into that. By adjusting our settings in camera, putting the shutter as electronic rather than mechanical, we were able to create real, unedited light banding that masked as a perfect defect. Having shot it, we graded it in post with DaVinci, haloing the LEDs, and graining it till believable yet noticeable.
