Ephemerals

Ephemerals was a non-profit showcasing of budding, independent filmmakers. Collating eight films of various genres and mediums - music video, documentary, short films, visual experiments - the event wove through the surreal, tragic, fantastic, disturbing, and comedic. Hosted at the Arthouse Cinema, in Crouch End, it focussed on peering through the lenses of different filmmakers.

The idea was to give voices to those who are passionate
about filmmaking. Working with every director,
we collaborated to form the collective showcase,
known as Ephemerals.

The Arthouse Cinema, located in Crouch End, North London, is a wonderful little cinema that screens a wide range of films. Being a former Salvation Army Hall, it has since been revolutionised into a building of cultural diversity. A strong belief of theirs is “breaking down the perceived fourth-wall between genres of Art that exist in isolation”. They often curate their own selection of screenings, collaborating with writers, directors, and people in the industry. Offering platforms from which independents can leap.

We chose to host our private event here, for the fact they support young, blooming creators and artists of all kinds. Arthouse Cinema helped us throughout the process from test screenings, advice, and social promotion.
